Creator Rights & AI Policy

Your story. Your rights.

WritersQuest exists to serve storytellers. Writers keep ownership of their work, control how it is shared, and remain the author of every creative decision.

Creator Ownership

Writers retain full ownership of their original creative works. WritersQuest never claims rights to your material. The platform exists to support your process — from first idea to finished draft — not to acquire what you create.

AI Philosophy

AI is a creative support tool, not a co-author. It helps you brainstorm, unblock, and iterate. You remain the author. You keep control of every project, every scene, and every creative decision.

Privacy & Sharing

Projects are private by default. You decide what stays private, what is visible to community, and what industry professionals can request access to. Sensitive materials can require NDA acknowledgement.

Creator Ownership in detail

  • You own the copyright in every original work you create with WritersQuest.
  • Uploading, sharing, or storing a project on WritersQuest does not transfer any rights in your material to us.
  • You can export or remove your work at any time.
  • Access granted to a script, screenplay, project, or creative material does not transfer ownership, rights, ideas, concepts, or intellectual property to any reader, reviewer, collaborator, industry professional, or other user.
  • Readers and reviewers may only access materials for the specific purpose authorized by the writer. Users may not copy, share, distribute, reproduce, adapt, or claim ownership of any concepts, characters, stories, or ideas without written permission.

Approved Professional Feedback & Script Analysis

  • WritersQuest is a controlled review environment — not an open script-sharing community.
  • Access to unpublished creative work is limited to approved readers, verified industry professionals, and SWN-trained script analysts.
  • Every reader must review, electronically accept, and sign the reader confidentiality agreement before viewing any script.
  • All feedback must follow professional script analysis standards: constructive, professional, respectful, specific, and helpful.
  • Feedback focuses on story structure, character, theme, conflict, pacing, format, audience, strengths, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Personal attacks, dismissive comments, unprofessional criticism, and any request for ownership or creative credit are prohibited.

Responsible AI use

  • AI features are creative support — for brainstorming, structural analysis, dialogue exploration, and revision passes.
  • AI output is a starting point, not a finished script. You decide what to keep, rewrite, or throw away.
  • Do not submit AI-generated material as finished work without your own creative authorship, and follow the guidelines of the markets, competitions, or programs you submit to.

Privacy & sharing

  • Projects are private by default. No unpublished script is publicly searchable or visible by default.
  • Writers control who can access their work, visibility settings, approval of requests, revoking access, and sharing permissions.
  • Industry access requests are individually reviewed and approved by the writer.
  • Every reader must accept the reader confidentiality agreement before viewing.
